Planned Giving Offers a Chance to Remember the Needy This Summer

In our June newsletter, we described the work of Bro. Andrew Dinegar, OFM, who ministers to the street people in the Tenderloin neighborhood of San Francisco. Much of his ministry consists of providing the basics of food and a blanket for those sleeping on the sidewalks.

Bro. Andrew goes a step beyond. He also regularly shares a Saturday morning breakfast at a local diner, enjoying the company with one of the street people he has befriended.

As we hit the summer vacation season Bro. Andrew’s example is worth remembering. One of the basics of human life remains the need for respite and recreation. As we take needed breaks from the grind of daily life, remember all those who may not be so fortunate.

Friars like Bro. Andrew remind us that the poor need the necessities of life, but also long for a break as well. The friars continue to provide not only the basics but also that human recognition which all of God’s people long for.

You can continue to be part of that special kind of ministry to the poor these summer months by creating a lasting legacy of care for the marginalized by remembering the Franciscan Friars of the Province of Our Lady of Guadalupe in your will or trust.

St. Francis said, “For it is in giving that we receive.”

Please consider remembering the Franciscan Friars of the Province of Our Lady of Guadalupe in your will or trust – and join us in our mission to serve the poor.

Planned Giving to the Franciscans allows you to make a charitable contribution as part of your overall financial and estate planning. You can do this in a variety of ways, including bequests, charitable trusts, life insurance policies and retirement accounts.
